About E.E.I.F.A.

E.E.I.F.A. is a forum for Canadian film professionals of Eastern European descent involved in Independent Filmmaking to find resources, brainstorm and, ultimately, showcase their own work. E.E.I.F.A. seeks to present new films to the world by helping to create, to import and to promote films targeted to, or made by, individuals of Eastern European descent. E.E.I.F.A.'s core function is to act as a spring board for artists by providing a comprehensive collection of experts and resources, all dedicated to assisting new filmmakers in showcasing their work.

The
Eastern-European Nights Out series are unique events. Each promises to be an assortment of film, theatre, music (classical, jazz or blues) and visual arts – through which we seek to unveil the common stylistic thread recognizable in each ethnic descent. Because our mandate is to promote the artists outside of their original countries, the films showcased are English and, occasionally, subtitled in English. We feel this policy is an important step toward market accessibility and integral to the process of establishing ethnic artists within the Canadian cultural mainstream.

This
groundbreaking approach to cinema represents the experience of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation ethnic Canadians. This is representative of a new cultural tradition of new Canadians who are influenced by multi-culturalism, Canadian culture and their own traditional heritage.
